The Jazz Appreciation Group was only formed in the Autumn of 2010 and is still developing.

The aim of the group is to widen member’s knowledge and enjoyment of Jazz in all its forms. So far we have covered, in separate sessions, British and American bands/artists. Sessions followed. devoted to Chris Barber Bands and most recently Humphrey Lyttelton, both his music and his other interests (I’m Sorry etc...). A Members Choice session gave us a very interesting meeting covering other “genres” besides the ubiquitous New Orleans (Trad).

We meet generally at 2pm on the first Monday of the month – subject to Bank Holidays etc – in the Committee Room of Balsall Common Village Hall. Meetings last approx.  2 hours.  Attendance is averaging 15 members per session but more members would be welcome – why not come along and give it a try?

The cost is £1.50 per session including tea/coffee and biscuits.

Programmes for the next few Meetings are:

2012

6th February 2012 - Bix Beiderbecke  & Nat King Cole

5th March    2012     - No Meeting

2nd April      2012    - Artie Shaw  (Basil Witham presenting)

7th  May      2012    - To be advised
